Professional athletes, as well as, people who like to exercise and partake in physical activity at any level, often find themselves with an injury at one time or another. Children constantly get hurt in their sports periods and even when they are just playing around.
There are a wide range of possible injuries: some may be sudden, due to an accident, and some may be from doing a repetitive motion over a long period of time.
• Sprained ankle or wrist

• Neck and shoulder injuries
• Nose injuries
• Stress fractures
When sports injuries happen, giving the proper first aid can greatly help to reduce the impact of the injury. This will also shorten the recovery period. Some injuries, such as stress fractures, which are usually caused by repetitive actions, need the capability of a bone doctor to ensure proper treatment is received.
To start with, whatever the activity: stop immediately when the injury happens. These are some of the basic things that can be done until medical help can be acquired:

• Stop the activity and rest the area, if the injury is on the leg, don’t try to walk
• Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes at a time every couple of hours for the first day
• Compress the area by wrapping a bandage, splint or any kind of wrap that will stabilize the area
• If the injury is on a foot or leg, as much as possible keep the injury elevated above the heart
• Do not apply heat or have a message and avoid alcohol, they will aggravate the swelling

• Sit down and lean the head forward
• Breathe through the mouth and pinch the nostrils together
• For about ten minutes hold the nose, and if bleeding continues more then 30 minutes, see a doctor

It is possible to save a tooth with immediate dental treatment. Collect the tooth and promptly see a dentist.
Dislocation can occur to the shoulder, elbow, hip, ankle and knees. When a joint dislocates, it will not be possible to move it. Do not try to put it back in, as further injury could be caused to the ligaments, muscles and blood vessels in the surrounding area.
• Do not try to move the joint
• Apply an ice pack to reduce swelling
• Seek medical help immediately
• If there is a cut, clean and bandage it
